Application of Kenyan Birth Certificate in Dubai(Newborn)

A birth certificate is a proof for nationality. It is an essential document for everyone, especially anyone applying for a National Identification Card and passport. Newborn babies are no exception. Therefore, if you gave birth in the UAE and you want to travel back home with your child you will need to apply for a passport for your child. And to start the process you will need a birth certificate. In this article, I will guide you on the application for a Kenyan birth certificate in Dubai(Newborn).

Documents required when applying for a Kenyan Birth certificate

  • UAE birth certificate– English/Arabic(both must be attested by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs UAE).
  • Both parent’s passports/resident visas/Kenyan IDs originals(and copy)And if one of the parents is not a Kenyan then his/her passport must be certified by their embassy and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs UAE.
  • Marriage certificate. 
    • If it originates from Kenya; It must be attested by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Nairobi and the Kenyan Consulate Dubai. 
    • If it originates from the UAE, then it must be attested by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs UAE and Kenyan Consulate Dubai. 
    • If it originates from another country it must be attested by that country’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Kenyan Consulate Dubai.

Cost

Application of a Kenyan birth certificate will cost you AED 50 paid through a credit or debit card. Cash payment is not accepted.

Please Note: that you will leave all the original documents with the consulate and collect them the next day. It is also important to note that the birth certificate will be issued in Nairobi and can take up to 2 months to process.

Application for a Kenyan newborn birth certificate in Dubai is a simple process provided you have all the documents required. Therefore, if you gave birth in the UAE you might want to apply for your child’s birth certificate. To do that you will be required to visit the Kenyan Consulate in Dubai with your child’s UAE birth certificate both parents’ passports or IDs, marriage certificate, and a service charge of 50 AED on your credit or debit card. All these documents must be attested by relevant authorities.
